The phenomenon of "ghost companies" that declare activities unrelated to our sector and suddenly appear online selling optical products has reached alarming proportions.
Without an Optician, without an operating license, and without a posted VAT or G.E.MI. (General Commercial Registry) number, they operate illegally in online stores, physical shops, marketplaces, social media, etc., conducting unauthorized retail sales of optical goods.
This is a wide range of illegal activity that increasingly harms our profession and simultaneously misleads the public.
Whenever you identify such incidents, please record and immediately inform the Committee for the Monitoring of Professional Legality and Combating Illegal Practices of the P.S.O.O.-N.P.D.D. at the email below. This allows the appropriate procedures to be initiated with the competent authorities. I must note that while some (Regional Health Directorates) respond immediately, others delay or prove reluctant to conduct inspections of these stores without any specific or justified reason.
